A severe alert has been issued for Tuesday**Our stormy weather pattern continues. Another system will bring showers and storms to our region. Some of the storms are expected to be strong to severe during the day Tuesday with the highest threats coming during the midday / early afternoon hours and again late in the day into the early evening.

Central Indiana will serve as a battleground between a high pressure zone to our north, and a wall of rain and storms that have developed to our west.

"A maturing central U.S. storm system is expected to produce another round of dangerous severe weather and instances of flash flooding today," the National Weather Service warned Monday. The forecast discussion added that "from a broader perspective," locally heavy rain was forecast to reach from the northern Plains to Texas.

At least 31 million people are at risk for severe storms from central Texas to Iowa on Monday, with hazards including large hail, damaging winds and several possibly strong tornadoes.

TERRE HAUTE, IN – Central Indiana, including Terre Haute, is bracing for a period of unsettled weather, with the primary threat of severe storms expected on Tuesday.

Severe storms are possible Tuesday afternoon, especially across southern Indiana. These storms could produce damaging winds, hail, and even a chance of tornadoes. High temperatures Tuesday will reach the upper 60s to low 70s.

The National Weather Service in Alabama warned Monday that weather radio broadcasts are offline for routine maintenance as severe storms are forecast to hit the state Tuesday.
